I got my first pair of Blundstones a few years ago. I wanted a pair for a long time and finally purchased the Blundstone High Top, and to be honest, I didn’t love them. Womp womp. I didn’t order the right size and that particular style is just really hard to break in. I’m not one to enjoy a long break in period, so I decided to try a different pair. I got the Blundstone Chelsea Boot. This time I ordered the right size and it was love at first wear. Unlike the high top, the Blundstone Chelsea Boot needed very minimal breaking in and were comfortable enough for me to wear on a long walk right out of the box. I get questions about them all the time so here is my full review!

Blundstone Chelsea Boot Review

One of my favorite things about the Blundstone Chelsea Boots is that they’re so versatile. They’re the kind of boots you really don’t want to take off once you put them on. They just get better with age too. The break in period is short, I wore them right out of the box, but they continue to get more comfortable with every wear. They’re super sturdy without being too heavy, and great for everything from hiking to a day date.

A question I get pretty frequently is if these are a good snow boot. My answer is yes, with a caveat. It really depends on the activity and how much snow we’re talking. These are not a super high boot, so if you’re trudging through deep snow, I’d recommend an actual snow boot (these are my favorites). For regular snow days (and rain) they’re amazing. I wore them all winter last year and they kept my feet warm and dry. They clean up so easily. I’ve hosed them off after a muddy hike and they look good as new.

I got the rustic brown/mustard color because I had the high top in rustic black. My mom has the dark green which also looks really nice in person. If I were to get another pair I’d really like to try the dress boot in rustic black. I got Craig a pair of the Chelsea boots too and here wears them a TON. He’s very picky so his endorsement says a lot.

Sizing

Sizing advice seems to be a little all over the place so I’ll just share from my personal experience. I have narrow feet and I’m typically a 7-7.5 but with the Blundstone Chelsea Boot I went up to a size 8. And I tried the 7 which were way too small and the 7.5 and they still felt a little tight. I knew I’d want to wear thick socks so I went up to an 8 and they fit perfectly. I used the additional insole the boots came with and got just the right fit.

How to Style the Blundstone Chelsea Boots

I wear my Blundstone Chelsea Boots a ton of different ways. For hiking I usually wear them with Pact leggings and Smartwool socks. I also like to style them with a slightly cropped style pant, this pair I’ve had for a few years is a favorite. They also look great with straight leg jeans like this pair. If I’m wearing them with a dress I’ll usually go for a midi length like this style or this one from SĂ©zane. I rounded up some more outfit ideas on this Pinterest board.

Are the Blundstone Chelsea Boots Worth It?

The short answer, yes! Not only are they easy to style with everything from jeans to dresses but they are super comfortable and durable. A great wardrobe staple for year round wear (yes I wear them in the summer hiking!). They just get better with age and I personally recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit. These are also great boots to travel with because they’re lightweight and you can wear them for a variety of activities.

I love these thorough reviews of key pieces. I have a pair of Chelsea boots that I don’t like (a long break-in period is a no go for me) and appreciate the extra details in this post. Definitely going to check out Blundstone!

Thanks Erica so glad you’re enjoying these review type posts! I totally agree a long break in period is not ideal.

I totally agree with you! These are the best boots I’ve ever owned, I’m going on year four with the same pair. I bought mine before a fall trip to Minneapolis and there was zero break in period. We walked all over the city for four days and my feet were comfortable and warm the entire time. I’m also considering getting a second pair in black.

That’s amazing! I’m so tempted to get the black. I saw someone wearing them in town the other day and they looked really good.
