Lighting Fixtures In Our New Master Bedroom and Bath

Anyone else have the TOUGHEST time with lighting? It’s one of those things that makes such an impact on a space and I think can often be overlooked. Starting with a blank slate in the addition really gave us a lot of freedom with our lighting choices. I wanted lighting that’s slightly modern and clean looking. I love what we picked out, but I need your help with one of my choices! More on what we chose from Mitzi below.

Master Bath

In the master bath we went with black fixtures and hardware so I knew I wanted a darker finish for lighting. I’m a big fan of Hudson Valley Lighting after using their fixtures in our living room and our front entrance. Their brand Mitzi had so many fun, modern options it was hard to narrow it down, but Craig and I both really liked the Reese Bathroom Vanity Light in Old Bronze, and I love how it looks with our medicine cabinets and wood vanity. It has just the right amount of contemporary polish that I wanted in the master. I think it complements the wood tones and concrete countertop really well.

For the master, I wanted a portable plug in lamp for the corner space next to the wardrobe under the window that faces the backyard. I picked the Willa floor lamp because I like how sleek it is with the white and aged brass. Keep in mind we are getting a big cozy chair or chaise to go here and make it a little reading nook, so this chair is a placeholder. We might add some built-ins too.

I’ve also been thinking about adding a floor lamp to Marin’s nursery because she only has one flush mount in there which doesn’t give off a ton of light and her room is north facing so it’s just dark in general. Just for fun I brought the Willa in to see how it would look and I actually really love it in her nursery too! I’m kind of torn, so figured I’d ask you guys to weigh in. What do you think? Should I keep it in our master in this little corner or put it in Marin’s nursery? I really like how it looks in both rooms. Let me know if you have a favorite in the comments.

Absolutely love this floor lamp. The aged brass is gorgeous. My vote is to keep it in your cozy master corner. It would create a lovely reading nook. ?

It might seem trivial, but many designers are moving away from the term “master” bath/bedroom due to the problematic nature of this term.

I don’t think it seems trivial. I wasn’t aware and just learned about the origins of this so need to change my use of that term in the future.

Gorgeous! I got that same Reese light fixture from Mitzi but every light bulb I try doesn’t fit! Do you have a link to the ones you used??
