What’s one of the easiest ways to update your space? Lighting! I can not put into words how happy I was to FINALLY take down the awful ceiling fan in our living room and swap it out for this beautiful Allure Ceiling Flushmount from Troy Lighting. I wanted something low profile (we don’t have high ceilings), sophisticated and casual. With metallic accents throughout our kitchen and living room, it was the perfect fixture to tie the space together. It comes in a gold leaf finish in hand-worked iron with a white glass shade. I prefer a white shade over clear glass particularly when fixtures are overhead because I like the softer illumination. The color goes so beautifully with our antique gold mirror over the fireplace too. We’re in the middle of re-finishing the pellet stove surround and mantle so stay tuned for that update soon!
In the front of the house, we replaced old lights with the Morgan sconces. Again I wanted something with touches of gold because of our gold doorbell and knocker. I LOVE how they pop against our pink house and tie together all our gold accents. They really brighten up the front, how sweet do they look with that forsythia wreath? My favorite design feature is the mirrored back, so the lights reflect the trees across the street, it’s such a pretty touch. They have that modern feel but at the same time add warmth and charm. It’s the first thing anyone notices when they stop by the house.
If you’re looking to do some updates, Troy lighting has some really beautiful fixtures for interior and exterior. I love the Little Harbor sconces, they’d be so perfect for a colonial or farmhouse. The Wilmington is super cool too for something a bit more nautical/industrial. If you’re feeling the itch to make some changes but don’t know where to start, try switching out your lighting, even in one room or space. It’s pretty amazing what a difference some new fixtures can make.
Thanks to Troy Lighting for sponsoring this post. All opinions expressed are my own.
Where is the wave art from?
It’s a stock image that comes with the Samsung Frame TV (it’s a TV in the light wood frame).
I like your blogs on decor important issues, and on renovations and decor I appreciate all the amazing work you do, and your artful eye. I’m just not a fan of the gold accents–reminds me of the late 80s, early 90s decor. I might have done accents in black.
The fixtures are so beautiful, and they go great with the overall aesthetic of your home. I’m kinda jealous 🙂

Thank you so much, it really is perfect for that room.
I just love the porch and the lighting! So pretty! I love the couch and the coloring too! Gorgeous ! How did I miss that? ❤️
Thanks Lynn! New couch so you probably haven’t seen it before.
I love the new fixtures, are so beautiful! Have you changed the sofa? I loved the velvet blue but I guess with pets it’s more practical a leather sofa vs. fabric sofa
Thanks Margeaux. We did change the couch. The velvet is in the basement which we are re-finishing as well!
