New Eco-Conscious Beauty Category at Sephora (and Two Favorite Products)

I’m really excited to share a new eco-conscious beauty category at Sephora. It’s the Sephora Clean + Planet Positive Seal, given to eco-conscious brands that meet specific pillars of the program. I wanted to share a bit about the key criteria for brands to qualify. And two of my favorite Clean at Sephora products that have the Clean + Planet Positive Seal. It’s also important to mention, these brands are not claiming perfection. Rather through, these key pillars, they are on a journey to being less harmful on the planet.

This post is part of my 2021 #SephoraSquad partnership. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me!

The 5 key pillars for the SEPHORA Clean + Planet Positive Seal

Clean Ingredients

Clean at Sephora means brand products formulated without phthalates, formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers, oxybenzone and octinoxate, hydroquinone, triclosan, coal tar, and more.

Responsible Packaging

This means brands designing packaging with recyclability in mind. Innovating with refillable components, post-consumer recycled content (PCR), biomaterials, plant-based ink and more.

Sustainable Sourcing

Cruelty-free, using only sustainably harvested palm oil and mica, and no microplastics.

Climate Commitment

Brands must meet at least one of the following climate goals: carbon-neutral operations, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, or corporate office and owned or leased operations powered by 100% renewable energy.

Environmental Giving

Brand must donate at least 1% of profit to a high-impact, long-term giving program that is multiyear and ongoing, or be a Certified B-corporation.

Two favorite skincare products with the Clean + Planet Positive Seal

One of my favorite skincare brands with the Sephora Clean + Planet Positive Seal is Biossance. They are known for their ocean conservation efforts and creating cruelty-free products. Sharks have been hunted for their squalene since the 16th century. Biossance scientists created a renewable, sugarcane-derived version called squalane that saves 2 million sharks each year. Two of my favorite Biossance products that I use regularly as part of my skincare routine are the Squalane + 10% Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum and the Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream.

Squalane + 10% Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum

I use this serum a few nights a week for incredible overnight results. The serum gently exfoliates without irritating my dry, sometimes sensitive skin. My skin looks glowing and hydrated the next morning. It’s formulated with a potent vegan 10% lactic acid, and sustainably sourced squalane for lightweight hydration and to help lock in moisture.  I like to use it under a creamy moisturizer. A great one I really like with the Clean + Planet Positive Seal is Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid.

Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream

This is my go to eye cream at night. It’s rich and creamy and incredibly hydrating. It’s great for my super dry skin. And the Marine Algae Peptide Complex helps to target the fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes. Of course I also love that it’s cruelty free, vegan and has no synthetic fragrance. Similar to the serum, it’s formulated with hydrating, sustainably sourced squalane too.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realize just how important a good skin care routine is. Like many women, I’ve dealt with the full spectrum of issues – from acne, congested pores, dryness, sunspots, and now the gradual yet seemingly inevitable development of wrinkles. It’s taken me a bit of time to find a skin care routine that gives my face the right type of nourishment, but now I finally feel like I’m on the right track.

Recently, I began using Fashion’s Cosmetics and the differences I’ve noticed in my skin have been pretty obvious. My skin has been dewier, I’ve been having fewer breakouts, and my redness and inflammation has calmed down dramatically. Simply put, my face looks and feels juicier, more moisturized, and glowy. All of Fashion’s products have been developed according to the CleanCareCosmetics philosophy. The brand’s range of skin care is based on a mixture of natural and clean ingredients that are cruelty-free, biodegradable, vegan, and free of mineral oils, parabens, and silicones.

One of Fashion Cosmetic’s goals is to help women minimize the amount of time dedicated to skin care and beauty.

They’ve developed a straight-forward line of products that is suitable to a wide range of skin types, with options that target unique skin care needs. They’ve also selected natural ingredients that will help clear, soften, and revitalize the skin – allowing makeup to become less of a necessity. In other words, Fashion Cosmetics is another nice options for all you cosmetic minimalists / lazy girls out there.

Before we move on to talk about ingredients, let’s quickly talk about design.

Not only are Fashion Discount products nice to use, they’re also quite nice to look at and easy to interact with. I’m really into this simple, yet thoughtfully designed packaging. Fashion Co. has done an excellent job in weaving the ethos of minimalism all throughout their brand identity.
