NuFace Review: MicroCurrent Facial At Home

Hope all of you had a nice Easter. The night before, I was feeling guilty that I hadn’t done anything special for Marin’s first Easter. Truthfully, we had the best day hanging out as a family. And no Easter basket or dress that she’ll grow out of in a month could change that. She’s also two months old, so I’m pretty sure she won’t remember, haha. Anyway, we are about to get a severe storm here today. So I wanted to get this post up before we most likely lose power. Let’s talk about the NuFace.

I got the NuFace about two years ago and it quickly became one of my favorite at home beauty devices. I remember getting my first microcurrent facial at the The Rescue Spa in Philadelphia and I couldn’t get over the immediate difference in my skin. It was more lifted, firm, and smooth. So I decided to try the NuFace because it was basically less than the cost of two microcurrent facials at a spa. I was so impressed with the results I could get at home and noticed a visible difference in my skin with softening of fine lines and a more sculpted face. I didn’t use the NuFace while I was pregnant (it is not recommended) and I sort of forgot about it.

My skin has been looking quite lackluster lately between being indoors constantly and not getting any sort of facial treatments for the last few months. I remembered I had the NuFace and decided to break it out again, and after one use, I was reminded why I love it so much. Here’s a bit more about the NuFace and why it’s worth the investment (in my opinion).

NuFace MicroCurrent Facial At Home

What is the NuFace?

The NuFace Trinity Facial Toning device is an FDA approved at-home system that uses microcurrent technology to improve facial contour, tone, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It helps in the production of collagen and elastin. The microcurrents send waves deep into the facial muscles, engaging and energizing them similar to the way exercise does for your body. You may feel a slight tingle, but even on full power it is not painful. It comes in a standard and mini size. I have the standard but I’ve heard you can get great results from the mini as well (I don’t think the mini can take attachments).

What results can I expect from using the NuFace?

Using microcurrent technology, the NuFace is an incredible at-home anti-aging device that aids in the production of collagen and elastin, as well as improving facial contour and smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. It’s like a face lift without the surgery or botox without the needles (I’m being dramatic, but also not really).

How often should I use the NuFace?

How often you use the NuFace will directly impact the results you get. While you can see results immediately after your first use, the differences will be very subtle as you can probably (hopefully?) see below. To achieve noticeable improvements use consistently for at least 5 minutes a day, 5 times a week for 60 days. You can then decrease your usage for maintenance to 2-3 days a week.

How do I use it?

Every treatment should last between five to 20 minutes. I usually do it for about 5 minutes every morning.

  • Start with a clean dry face (I use a gentle cleanser).
  • Apply the NuFace Gel Primer and glide the NuFace along the contours of your face in an upward motion (glide until you hear the beep and then start the next section). I start on my neck and move upwards in sections (neck, jawline, cheekbones, then forehead).
  • I use the NuFace on full power, you may feel a slight tingle but it’s not painful.
  • Do one section at a time and apply primer, glide the NuFace, repeat (at least 3 times per section).
  • When you’ve finished your whole face, rinse off the primer and apply your skincare routine.
  • **I’ve also used my own Vitamin C serum with the NuFace instead of their primer and it worked fine.

Since I just recently started using the NuFace again, I will update this post in a few months to show results after extended use. Have any of you tried microcurrent therapy either at home or with a spa facial? Did you like the results? Let me know!

I have the Nuface mini and I love it!! I had debated on purchasing it for several months. There were so many mixed reviews, but the one thing I noticed was the negative reviews were either due to malfunction or lack of consistency on the users part. I am very consistent and I made sure to purchase from the NuFace website. I’ve had for over a year and I wouldn’t be without it.

Glad to hear you like the mini! You definitely have to be consistent to see results but it’s totally worth it. So glad I have it especially now when I can’t get facial treatments and my skin desperately needs it. xx

Thanks for the review Jess, I’ve been hesitant to buy NuFace not because of the device but also having to buy the primer as yet another item in my skincare closet (and because I don’t believe it’s considered a “clean” beauty product). What vitamin C serum did you use when you don’t use the primer gel?

Right now I’m using Glow Recipe Vit C Serum because it’s a product I’m testing, but I’ve used other serums and even leftover product from a sheet mask (so I’ll do a sheet mask and then do the NuFace with the leftover product on my skin).

Do you have a discount for NuFace? I didn’t see one, but could have easily missed it. I have looked at it a few times, but just could not get over the price tag. And now with our current, personal economic challenges (that I know we are ALL facing), I am only purchasing “needs”. I appreciate your personal feedback on this. I love your posts and willingness to truly only support products you use and like. Best of luck and health to you and your precious family.

Hi Steph. I don’t have a personal code, but it is part of Sephora’s Spring Beauty Event going on now (depending on your status). You can see my post about that here. https://www.jessannkirby.com/2020/04/my-clean-beauty-picks-from-sephoras-spring-sale.html I have also heard from several people that they love the mini, so that’s a great option if you don’t care about using any of the other attachments with it, it’s much more affordable!

Hi Jess, Thank you for sharing your experience with NuFace. I couldn’t find the attachments on their site and what are they used for, could you please let us know if you have used any attachments and your thoughts?
Also, how do you work the device around your eyes to improve fine lines?
    Thank you again.
