10 Black-Owned Ethical and Sustainable Fashion Brands

I’m super excited for today’s post because these brands are all amazing. From organic linen maxi dresses to inclusive nude lingerie and breezy beach tunics there are so many gorgeous pieces. Earth Toned Collective – Earth Toned Collective is a sustainable and ethical women’s apparel brand. Using eco friendly and revived materials the brand designs with care for the environment in mind.

Galerie.LA – Galerie.LA is a super cool collection of sustainable and ethical brands you can shop all in one place. You can shop your values with everything from vegan to eco-friendly and locally made. This Beloved ivory dress is so gorgeous for summer and this beach waves spray looks amazing.

lemlem – The pieces from this artisan-focused brand are made ethically in Africa. I love this gauze maxi dress and this blush tunic cover-up. Perfect breezy pieces for beach days or hanging in the backyard on a hot summer day.

Two Days Off – Two Days Off specializes in easy, timeless capsule wardrobe-esque pieces. All garments are either made to order or are produced in small batches in Los Angeles. This zero-waste bento bag is perfect for the farmer’s market/grocery store. This haruko dress in olive cotton is another favorite.

Aliya Wanek – A sustainable brand that focuses on exploring the connection between one’s identity and style. If not sewing the garments herself, Aliya works with a production sewer and other local contractors in the Bay Area to produce and dye her garments, always taking into consideration ways to reduce the brand’s environmental impact. Her pieces look like the kind of clothes you want to live in from cozy sweatshirts to dresses.

Fanm Mon – Designed in the Ukraine, Fanm Mon is a sustainable luxury brand with an ultra feminine vibe. The dresses are made from organic linen with hand embroidery, and you can customize each style with a choice of several colors. The brand is led by husband and wife team Sophia and Kerem, based in Turkey. When I saw Sophia wearing the Machan linen maxi dress (pictured below right) on Instagram I knew I had to have it. I ordered it in peach. I also love the Demre dress.

Brother Vellies – This handcrafted shoe brand has a great selection of unique styles – from slides to knee-high boots.

gracemade – Gracemade is all about pieces that are timeless, comfortable and modernly modest. As a  faith-driven company, they encompass being responsible stewards of the earth and treating people with love, respect, and kindness. You can read about their practices here. I really love this linen jumpsuit.

The Tiny Closet – Made by hand by the founder, Natalie, these feminine closet staples look so perfect to add an everyday elegance to your wardrobe.

Míe – Míe is a lifestyle brand that provides design and fashion consciously made to be nature-friendly with a focus on resortwear. All of their clothes are locally made by seamstresses and artisans in Lagos, Nigeria, where the brand is based. I’m in love with the Gili dress and the Sicily dress.
