As warm weather approaches, what better way to enjoy the outdoors and celebrate all of Vermont and New Hampshire’s beautiful bounties than visit some of our favorite farms with something to offer for everyone. Whether it’s homemade ice cream, baby animals, delicious homegrown fruits and vegetables, gorgeous greenhouses or pick your own flowers– each of the farms listed below will be sure to provide a lovely day trip for you and your family or friends.
10 Farms to Visit in Vermont and New Hampshire
Billings Farm & Museum, woodstock, vt
Billings is our favorite local farm, not only because it is right here in Woodstock, but it provides so many wonderful programs and activities for our community and visitors. From kids camps to school field trips, homeschool clubs, sheep shearing, historical exhibits, a theater, gardens, 1890’s farmhouse, dairy barn, wagon rides and so much more. Check their website for seasonal offerings and know that no matter the season or weather, Billings always has something for the whole family to enjoy. You truly cannot go wrong at Billings Farm!
Thetford Cedar Circle, thetford, vt
Cedar Circle Farm and Education Center also offers great kids programs, including camps, field trips, workshops and events. The farm has a farmstand with delicious homegrown berries, veggies and prepared foods from the farm kitchen. The beautiful greenhouses are stocked with a colorful array of flowers and vegetables to get your home gardens flourishing. Don’t miss the Hello Cafe tucked behind the farmstand with coffee, tea and tisanes. If you are local to the Thetford area, Cedar Circle also provides a wonderful CSA membership program with offerings and deals on fruit, vegetables, baked goods, meals, plants, and bouquets.
Sugarbush Farm, woodstock, vt
Sugarbush is another local farm we know and love here in Woodstock. Most well known for their mouth watering cheese and maple syrup production. Visit the farm in the spring (March and April) to get an up close and personal look at the sugaring process and visit all year round to sample cheese, walk the nature trail, meet the farm animals, picnic and enjoy the view!
Edgewater Farm, plainfield, nh
Edgewater has a beautiful selection of flowers in their greenhouses. As well as seasonal offerings of pick your own fruits and vegetables, farmstand and kitchen with homemade soups, breads and baked goods. Edgewater also offers a CSA program in the summer and fall.
Riverview Farm, Plainfield, NH
Riverview is my favorite fall apple and pumpkin picking destination, but they have wonderful offerings all summer and spring as well. Don’t miss their gorgeous flower gardens, dried floral bouquets, apple cider, donuts, corn maze and barn store with freshly harvested fruits and vegetables, local cheeses, honey and maple syrup.
taylor farm, londonderry, vt
Winter at Taylor Farm is pure magic with sleigh rides, hot cider, a bonfire and marshmallows to roast. You can visit all year and enjoy their friendly animals and farm store with artisan cheeses and Vermont food and gifts.
hartshorn’s organic farm stand, waitsfield, vt
Hartshorn’s provides an authentic farm experience known for their delicious roadside farmstand and sugarhouse. They provide farm tours, cow train rides, retreats, food festivals, farm to table lunches and other intimate events. Hartshorn also offers a CSA program, check out their website to learn more.
Beech Hill Farm and Ice Cream Barn, Hopkinton, NH
Anything with the words “ice cream barn” has us sold! Beech Hill is open seasonally (spring through fall) with 75 flavors of delicious New England made ice cream, sundaes and waffle cones. But that’s not all, they also have a country store, a gardener’s barn, farm museum and farm raised meats for sale.
Robb Family Farm, BRattleboro, VT
The Robb Family Farm has transitioned from a dairy farm to a maple sugaring and naturally raised meat farm. Their sweet gift shop offers delicious homegrown products.
Meadow Ledge Farm, Loudon, NH
Meadow Ledge provides a wonderful family outing with strawberry, peach, and apple picking and scrumptious donuts and hot mulled cider to enjoy. Their country store is stocked with fresh breads, pies, local maple syrup and honey. Check their website for seasonal offerings.
Farmers work tirelessly to provide for our communities in New England and we are so grateful for their determined efforts. We often take for granted the food we put on our plates at each and every meal. And it is the farmers who work day in and day out to grow and harvest the delicious fruits, vegetables, and meats we enjoy. We can show our appreciation and support by visiting these farms that do so much for us. We can also help teach our children where their foods come from by paying our beloved farms a visit this spring, summer and fall.

Oooh this was a fun list to read! I lived in Vermont for ten years and really miss it. One of my favorites is Shelburne Farms just outside of Burlington – it used to be the summer residence to the Vanderbilt family and it’s a working farm/inn/restaurant now. Be sure to have brunch on a nice day on the patio with GORGEOUS views of Lake Champlain:)
