I’ve been taking Equilibria CBD for about 8 months now and it has been a total game changer. I waited until I was done breastfeeding to start, though given how bad my pregnancy was, I often wonder if CBD could have helped my debilitating hyperemesis diagnosis. Less than a month after I had Marin, my grandmother passed away and then Covid-19 sent us into lockdown. On top of that I was dealing with anxiety from a condition related to breastfeeding called D-MER. It was a lot to process, especially as a new mom. Needless to say I had a lot of reasons to try CBD.
Why I take CBD
I was a little skeptical because I had seen so many posts about Equilibria. I wondered if it could really be that good? I actually gave the first products they sent to Craig and he would not stop raving about them, which is ultimately what convinced me to try for myself. I noticed a difference almost immediately. I take CBD for improving the quality of my sleep, helping with anxiety and managing stress. I also swear by the relief cream. I’ve tried many topical creams and nothing even comes close to the relief cream. It helps with period cramps, headaches, muscle soreness and pain. I’ve heard from several people it is great for arthritis.

Daily CBD Dosage
I tell everyone that tries Equilibria to take advantage of their dosage specialists. My call was hugely beneficial in helping me figure out my dosage and regimen. I initially started out taking the gel capsules which I really like (they last longer than the oil) but they are not vegan so I decided to stop taking them until they come out with a vegan version. Right now I take a half dropper of the Mint Daily Drops in the morning after breakfast and 3/4 dropper of the Mint drops at night. Depending on the day occasionally I take a half dropper at lunch or if I’m feeling particularly stressed or anxious as needed. I use the relief cream as needed but most often when I have cramps or back/neck pain (Craig used it this morning for neck pain). If you want to try the gel capsules, oil and relief cream the Brilliance Box is the best deal (and you can get 50% off your subscription with my code jessannkirby50 until 12/31).
Frequently Asked Questions
I’m new to CBD, where should I start?
In terms of dosage, EQ recommends starting with a 10mg dose in the evening to gauge your body’s response. You can then work with your dosage specialist to find the right dosage. When experimenting with finding the right dose, it’s helpful to increase in smaller amounts of 5mg-10mg at a time, every 3-5 days.
Regarding products to start with, if you want to start with topical, I can’t say enough good things about the Relief Cream. It is amazing for cramps, sore muscles, headaches and aches and pains. I really like the mint oil and it’s another great one for CBD newbies because there’s no hemp taste. It’s important to hold the oil under your tongue for up to 60 seconds for better absorption into the body. If you’re ok with the fact that it’s not vegan, the gel capsules are a great long lasting option for night or daytime.
Does CBD help with sleep?
EQ: Everyone’s body chemistry is different, but many people use CBD to improve their sleep. CBD has been shown to be non-habit forming (compared to melatonin for sleep) and has shown a lot of promise in early pre-clinical studies for sleep.
From my personal experience (and Craig’s) taking CBD has significantly improved our quality of sleep. When I forget to take it is when I notice the difference. I sleep better and more restful when I take CBD before bed. There’s no “hangover” or drowsy feeling the next morning.
Is CBD safe while pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum?
EQ: Unfortunately, pregnant and breastfeeding women are always the last group to be studied in clinical trials, so there’s very little data as to whether or not CBD can be used during pregnancy. The absence of data leaves us unable to fully answer your question. New CBD studies are published monthly so we are keeping an eye on it.
Ultimately, for most women it comes down to whether CBD is helping them manage stress and reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals they’re taking. Some women decide it’s the lesser of two evils, and some women decide not to use it during their pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It comes down to personal choice and a discussion with your doctor.
What makes Equilibria different from other CBD brands?
EQ: At Equilibria we have a hand in every step of the process from seed-to-consumer to provide high-quality, clinical-grade hemp oil products. We have partnered with an organic farm in Colorado to help us achieve this. Our partner farm consists of scientists and seed geneticists, who have specifically bred the strain of hemp we use. We also hand-harvest our product versus using a machine to preserve the plant’s medicinal properties. We are continuously conducting research and analysis on our products because we are obsessed with quality.
There are choices that can be made at every step of the farming process to cut corners and save costs. We make the conscious choice to optimize for the highest quality product every single step of the way. This includes running a best-in-class genetics program, growing in the sun, hand-harvesting only the flower of the plant, and using only the highest quality coconut-derived MCT carrier oil, comprised strictly of C8 and C10 triglycerides . We also provide every single customer with their own personal dosage specialist. We pair a high quality product with unparalleled customer education and support.
Are there any long term side effects?
EQ: CBD hasn’t been legal for long enough to really understand the long term effects. What we do know is that the World Health Organization released a report that says “Across a number of controlled and open label trials of the potential therapeutic effects of CBD it is generally well tolerated, with a good safety profile.” We also know that cannabis has been used as medicine for thousands of years (the first known recorded instance is from the Chinese Emperor Shen Nung in 2727 B.C.). So while CBD may seem like a new fad, it’s actually been around for centuries.
Does Equilibria test their products and share results (3rd party/independent lab testing)?
EQ: Absolutely. We have all of our products 3rd party tested for both potency and purity. We regularly publish updated COA’s on our website and you can find them here: Lab Results
Does your body build up a tolerance to CBD? Have you had to up your dosage/usage?
EQ: According to the World Health Organization, no. While it is not the case with THC we do not develop a tolerance to CBD. In fact, with continued use many people find they can lower their dose rather than increase it.
To answer with my personal experience, no I have not had to up my dosage or usage (though certain times I may take more oil for example if I’m have a particularly stressful or anxious day).
What type of oil is the CBD blended with? Any alcohol added?
EQ: At Equilibria we use only the highest quality coconut-derived MCT carrier oil, comprised strictly of C8 and C10 triglycerides. No alcohol here.
How long does CBD take to work/notice results?
EQ: Everyone’s different. Some people notice something right away and some people can take a full month of consistent use before they notice the effects. The best way to find the right dosage and routine is to start low and slow and experiment.
