My 6 Favorite Face Masks for Winter Skin

Jess Ann Kirby shares her favorite face masks to combat dull, dry skin in the winter.

Things that get me through winter, Netflix, cashmere and face masks. I’ve tried too many to admit, but discovered some of the best along the way. These are the masks I keep going back to whether my skin is dry and dehydrated, clogged and congested or just looking dull and in need of some brightening. What is a Sunday night in the dead of winter without a cozy fire and a face mask?

1. Naturopathica Sweet Cherry Brightening Enzyme Peel

The all natural superstar

I can’t believe this clean beauty brand is a new discovery to me. They’ve been around for a while so it’s no surprise how many people love their sweet cherry enzyme peel. I use this in the shower at least once a week and it leaves my skin feeling glowy, detoxed and bright. It’s a gentle peel that’s incredibly effective and can help your other products work better as well.

2. Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser

The multitasker

I had no idea this cleanser could also be used as a mask until Indie Lee herself sent me a message on Instagram suggesting I leave it on for a few minutes. It gently exfoliates, tightens and brightens skin when used as a mask. I love a product that can do double duty!

3. First Aid Beauty Bouncy Mask

The quick fix

Leave this one on for as little as 5 minutes and you’ll have smaller pores and plump skin. It’s basically a mini-facial in a jar. Perfect right before you do your make-up for a night out.

4. Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask

The overnight sensation

It was actually this sheet mask from the same brand that turned me onto this mask which had a waiting list when it first came out. Not surprisingly because it leaves your skin baby soft and super hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is one of those superstar skincare ingredients that is basically like a big glass of water for your skin. Leave it on overnight and wake up refreshed or use it as a wash off mask.

5. Patchology Perfect Weekend FlashMasque Kit

The traveling trio

My favorite brand for sheet masks, I never travel without this sheet mask trio and these eye gels. This travel kit that includes their lip and eye gels is also great (these make great gifts too!).

6. Farmaesthetics Vassar Rose Perfecting Polish & Herbal Cleanser

The clean beauty combo

So much more than a cleanser and a face scrub, this combo does wonders for dull skin. It’s basically the clean beauty microdermabrasion at home. I fully admit I bought this scrub because I thought it looked pretty, so I was very happy to discover it also works really well. The smell alone of the herbal cleanser will put you in a good mood. I combine the cleanser and polish until it forms a paste, then gently apply to skin in circular motions. Leave on for a few minutes and enjoy your vibrant glow after washing it off.

I have used the Exuviance peel for ten years and swear by it although it might not fit the definition of clean. The results are amazing!

I wish that I could use these great products. I have super sensitive skin and Seb Derm. I’m dry and itchy and red. I have been to many good skin Drs. I wish I could find natural basics to wash my skin, moisturize and use a tinted moisturizer. It’s worrisome. I wonder if others also experience these skin issues ? it would be good to know since my skin barrier was basically thinned out by destroying the natural skin barrier by cortisone use prescribed by a Dermatologist. Maybe people do experience this . You look great Jess! The house , I’m thinking which one? Excited for you both!
