I debated whether or not I should even write this post. It seems strange to be talking about blouses for spring while there is so much sadness in the world right now. And most of us aren’t leaving the house for the foreseeable future. It still feels weird to even write that. At the same time, many of us are still working (from home) and/or just craving some sense of normalcy. For some of us that means putting makeup on in the morning, for others it means getting dressed for the day or doing a workout. Whatever your “normal” is, allow yourself to do the things that give you that feeling, however simple that is. I’d love to know what those things are for you too, let me know in the comments, and tell me how you’re doing.
A friend and I were chatting over the weekend about how we’re processing things right now, and I put it into three categories: optimism, escapism, and realism. I think many of us go through different phases of this regularly, and that’s ok. We all need to feel things differently and process them in a way that helps us survive what is a completely unprecedented moment in time.
So today, I want to talk about blouses for spring because that makes me happy, and I could use a little optimism and escapism today. Looking forward to the days I can get dressed and take Marin for a walk around town, pop into some of my favorite shops and grab a coffee. I might even switch out my wardrobe this week and put away my winter clothes for good. The sun is shining today and it’s going to be in the 60s. I’m going to put on one of my favorite spring blouses and take Marin outside for a little lunch date on our porch. That is certainly a gift.
My Favorite Blouses for Spring
Solid & Striped Button Down
I love a good classic button down. The linen button down I got from Solid & Striped pictured above is so nice for spring and summer. I’m wearing it now with jeans and will most certainly be wearing it with my favorite denim shorts and as a coverup at the beach. The tortoise buttons are such a chic touch. I have it in a small.
Sezane Tomboy Shirt
This striped button down from Sezane is made with 100% organic cotton and it’s such a great wardrobe staple. I have it in a US size 2 which fits true to size, not too tight not too loose. It looks great with a blazer and white chinos or boyfriend jeans.
Embroidered Puff Sleeve Top
I love the feminine details on this short sleeve button down from & Other Stories. I’m a sucker for anything with eyelet and embroidery and I especially love the frilly collar.
Rails Charli Shirt
I got this shirt last year for our trip to Florida and it’s still one of my all time favorites (I also have it in the striped version). It’s lightweight, soft and breezy. I have it in a small and recommend going a size up for a slightly drapey fit. The perfect style to get you in the spirit for summer.
Reformation Polka Dot Blouse
If polka dots are more your speed this v neck blouse from Reformation is a super cute style for spring. With a button front and 3/4 puff sleeves it’s perfect to dress up or wear casual with jeans.
Eileen Fisher Linen Top
I just got this organic linen top and it’s incredibly versatile for spring and summer. I’ll be wearing it with jeans or my favorite chinos. It runs big so size down at least one size (I have xxs).
Madewell Embroidered Blouse
This fun springy blouse also comes in white and has shirred puff sleeves with embroidery detail. I love that you can dress this one up or down.

I love three out of five of your blouses and
I am a big glass collection person. Loved the ones you chose an order three of them
I ordered the palm tree smRails shirt in medium and although I’m usually a medium with wider hips I couldn’t button the last button. The arms and bust and shoulders are fine. I’m afraid the large might be way too big in the length and the shoulders. So disappointed. My favorite shirt and the striped too!
Striking a balance between engagement with current events (scary, frightening, worrisome) and escapism is probably what most of us want these days. We are trying to be in the here and now, to care for our loved ones and to support those who are on the front lines. At the same time, we crave the familiar and safe. I love embroidered blouses. Your picks are comforting! You, Craig and little M stay safe and healthy and keep posting. We need this kind of connection! Xox
My feelings are the same. I want and need to stay up to date and mourn with those who are mourning, ache with those who are aching and strive whereever I can to help. But i’m also human and need to take care of my own psyche, and looking at pretty blouses does just that. Jess is doing a great job balancing!
