Happy first Monday of 2021. It will now take me approximately 6 months to get used to writing 2021 instead of 2020. I hope all of you had a nice break over the holidays. For the first time in years I didn’t work between Christmas and New Years, at all. I didn’t write down goals, didn’t check my email, took long breaks from social media and just generally checked out, and it was glorious. Need to do more of that this year.
I always love rounding up the top 10s. Sometimes I look back and am surprised by what’s been clicked the most, this year I looked back and thought, I wrote that in 2020? Hi- I’ve noticed you don’t use your fireplace but instead have an insert that’s not really inserted all the way? What are you using and who makes it? And is it easy to install? I have a wood burning fireplace that I love but it’s so darn messy after we make a fire and I’m paranoid about any potential fire hazards. We have researched converting to gas but it’s complicated and requires permits and hiring a plumber. Any alternative suggestions /ideas are welcome :). Thanks-
Hi Jackie, if you are referring to the stove in our house in Vermont it is propane. I can’t speak to installation because it was here when we bought the house. The insert in our other house is a pellet stove which was also there when we bought the house.
I had a wood burning stove built on skate in our spare den room. We loved it and used it all the time . The fireplace had a heat skater that came out of vents and oil heat that was there before. I can still feel sitting in that cozy room on Holidays with my kids and animals . It was a very long time ago but remains in images in my heart. One of my children is now gone and he was joined by his Dad, January 1st. The memories in that house we always dreamed of and did over together are some of my very best memories in my life.
I keep making typos so I did this whole post over . We had a Vermont Wood Burning stove built on a Gray Slate slab with a wood frame in our Den room and we loved it . We used it every night or on cold snowy days. The fireplace had a Heatalator (not sure how to spell it ) Craig would know what it was. Vents were above the mantle and heat came into the living room. It was very warm. Heat rises and warmed the upper kids bedrooms and then added was oil heat. I remember the Oil tanker coming up the road to load up the tank all of those years ago spent with my kids on that farm that we completely did over . They were some of the best memories of my life and when I read your stories some things you did over brings me right back there and for a sweet moment and makes my whole day❤️
