My Favorite Sustainable Activewear

I can not believe I haven’t written this post already! Particularly since it feels like most days for the past year I am in some form of activewear. Activewear has become the default uniform as of late (I think it can be “dressed up” too with cute boots and a nice sweater/top). I have discovered some great sustainable activewear brands over the last few years so it’s about time I share my favorites.

Sustainable Activewear

Prana

Prana is a fair trade certified, sustainable brand focused on eco-friendly and sustainably made materials. They also have a partnership with the Fair Labor Association to protect workers rights around the world. My absolute favorite pair of leggings from Prana is the Pillar legging pictured above in Jadeite Heather (on sale right now!). They are comfortable, great quality and perfect for fall and winter.

Patagonia

Safe to say I love all things Patagonia. Leggings, sweaters, jackets, gloves, etc., their products are great quality and the brand is incredibly committed to sustainability. For lightweight warmth and layering my favorite is the Nano Puff Jacket (I have a medium). In fall and winter I really love their packout lightweight tight (see them on here).

Threads4Thought

I discovered Threads4Thought a few years ago and I love their activewear for men and women. They use sustainable fabrics like Lenzing Modal (regenerated beech trees), organic cotton, and recycled poly and nylon. They also recycle and reuse 80% of the water used in their factories. Craig is a huge fan of their long sleeve shirts, they are basically the only ones he wears anymore. My favorites are the Monica High Rise Leggings (extra 30% off sale with code MLK30). I also like the Lunette Sports Bra.

Summersalt

I’m a big fan of the Summersalt Do-It-All High Rise 7/8 Leggings. They are made from recycled plastic bottles, feel super soft and fit like a glove. Light compression so they are not too tight and the 7/8 length hits right at the ankle. I have them in size small. The long sleeve ribbed crew is also SO soft and works great as activewear or dress it up. I don’t have their joggers but they’re made from eco-friendly Tencel and look really cute and cozy.

Girlfriend Collective

I love Girlfriend Collective for their transparency, commitment to sustainability, and inclusive sizing (they also show the brand on a variety of body types). This skort is part of their limited edition collection with Net-a-Porter and I can picture myself wearing it to play tennis (2021 goal to play more tennis). I really like their compression high rise legging and the paloma bra. I typically size up in Girlfriend. They also have a maternity collection including nursing bras.

thredUP

Doesn’t get much better than second-hand! You guys know I love thredUP and they have some amazing activewear on the site from Outdoor Voices, Adidas by Stella McCartney, and Sweaty Betty.

REEBOK

Reebok has a collection of sustainable apparel and sneakers (including the Floatride I posted about here). They recently gifted me some of their naturally dyed, organic cotton pieces including these leggings, the oversized sweatshirt and their natural dye tee. The organic cotton leggings stretch out a little because they have minimal spandex but they’re super soft and comfy.

Don’t forget your Guppyfriend!

The GUPPYFRIEND is a bag you can use when washing synthetic clothes to capture microfibers. When you wash synthetic clothes they shed small plastic pieces called microfibers, which leads to plastic pollution in our waterways. The GUPPYFRIEND filters out microfibers during washing and keeps them from getting into the water supply.
