September Book Club: The Great Alone

And the winner is… Kristin Hannah’s The Great AloneI’m slightly embarrassed to admit this book has been sitting on a shelf in my bedroom for months. I’ve heard such great things, I thought it would be a great option for our first official month of book club. In case you missed it, I posted about starting a book club last month and was initially going to kick it off with this book, until I realized how much I hated it. The Great Alone seems like a much better option. So here’s how book club will work. I want to give those of you who want to participate time to get the book (and time to read it), so we’ll reconvene back here on the blog on October 16. The other book club option was one my Mom recommended by Anna Quindlen, One True Thing. I plan on reading that as well, and if I have time I’ll share some thoughts about it in October. If any of you have other favorite authors, genres, etc. please let me know in the comments so I can take them into consideration for our next book. Happy reading.

P.S. This month’s wellness challenge focus is intellectual wellness, I’ll share some ideas and activities for that next Monday.

I’m glad I saw the video of the pants and tops to make fall outfits. You are amazingly good at that. I get in a wild mode figuring out what to take away. I’m putting my iPad on my bed as I choose this time and making it a bit easier. I’ve got your packing video and it should be an adventure and hopefully looking forward to being in New England will still my flight fears I wish it was today. I lived not too far from Woodstock, VT. It is absolutely breathtaking g even around Christmas time all lit up! A must to visit❤️

  2. Great post! you are inspiring to me and my blog. It is great to live beautifully and really create the aspects to do so. Thank you for your advice and inspiration! Life isn’t about looking pretty, but how do we create beauty on the inside. What makes us feel great inside to look our best on the outside too.

    Lots of love,
    Zuma

  3. If you’re looking for a fantastic giggle – read “Oh My God What A Complete Aisling”, set in Ireland with just the right amount of heart, soul and wit. It’s simply brilliant!

I loved this book so much! I won’t say much more since you haven’t read but having lived in Alaska for over 15 years it made me so appreciative of that special place. Kristin Hannah really captured the spirit and generosity of the people as well as the landscape. Bravo on your book choice!
