Lightweight Jackets For Spring

I’m slowly but surely making my way through your requests for spring fashion content and this was a popular one! I’ve actually been on the hunt myself for some cute lightweight jackets for spring. The weather is tricky right now, it’s still cold in the morning but some afternoons get up to the mid 50s or even 60s. It’s definitely still jacket weather, but I think I can retire my heaviest puffy coat (famous last words). The main jackets I reach for during spring are typically a rain coat, blazer, lightweight insulated/quilted coat or a light wool coat. I actually already have most of these in my wardrobe (yay!) but I have a “dressier” rain coat and quilted coat on my wish list. Today I rounded up some really great lightweight jackets for spring.

You can’t go wrong with a classic Barbour jacket. I’ve had my Barbour Beadnell Waxed Cotton Jacket for close to 10 years now and it’s still as good as new. They’re timeless and ideal for those rainy spring days. I’ve been looking for something that can be dressed up and I really like this style from Sézane. It has a removable hood for fashion and function.

Blazers

You can’t go wrong with a light wool blazer for spring. It makes any outfit look chic and it provides warmth without bulky layers. A classic navy blazer is so timeless and chic. The Sézane Michele Jacket in Navy is gorgeous (a recycled poly/wool blend). I pair with everything from denim to white trousers to midi dresses. This white Boden blazer comes in four gorgeous colors, and it’s a wool/viscose blend, perfect for transitional spring weather!

lightweight insulated and quilted jackets

For working out or a more casual outfit a lightweight insulated jacket or quilted jacket is the way to go. The Patagonia Nano Puff is my favorite lightweight insulated layer and great for outdoor activities in the spring (it’s thin and light enough to layer under another jacket too). I just ordered this Summersalt Reversible Eco Quilted Jacket for spring. I love the slightly longer length and that it’s reversible! A great light but warm layer that’s not too bulky.

wool coat

For those days when it’s still cold and you need a warm layer I go for a light wool coat in spring. It looks so chic with white trousers or even over a dress (see my YouTube video on spring outfits for cold weather). I was thrilled to find this incredibly chic style from Summersalt made with recycled wool. It comes in three different classic colors but I love the camel. Another gorgeous style is the Sézane Johnson coat. This one is on the thicker side but would be a great transitional piece especially layered over a pretty spring blouse.
