Unfortunately we are not going away this spring as planned, sigh. So I’m not doing any spring break shopping, but I decided to start planning for summer instead, and I’m already looking for cute bathing suits to wear at the beach. The swimwear topic is going around in my group chats. Summer will be here before we know it!
I am a big fan of a one piece bathing suit. Mainly, I just find them to be more comfortable. Overall there’s less fidgeting, less wardrobe malfunctions and less weird tan lines I can never get rid of. I wrote this post last year so I decided to update it with some fresh new styles and a few new to me brands as well. After the last year, I plan on spending as much time as possible in a bathing suit this summer. Whether you plan to hit the pool, the beach, or the lake here are some cute one piece bathing suits to get you excited for summer.
Sustainable One Piece Bathing Suits
Summersalt
I love Summersalt and little fun fact, I was introduced to the brand years ago, when they launched, and Craig and I shot their first ever campaign in Mexico. What really stands out about their bathing suits is just how comfortable they are to wear. Made with 78% recycled polyamide which is composed from post-consumer materials like old fishing nets, their suits also offer UPF 50+ protection. I recommend the sidestroke all the time because it’s just so comfortable. The ruched backflip is another cute style and maybe my favorite thing of all is that they have full coverage bottoms (yes!). Zulu and Zephyr
This is a new to me swimwear brand and they have a lot of really pretty colors and styles. I love the lilac one piece. Zulu & Zephyr uses recycled polyester, REPREVE® lining and OEKO-TEX® 100 certified hardware. Most of their swimwear has a more high cut leg style and less coverage in the back.

Prana
What’s better than an eco-friendly one piece? A reversible eco-friendly one piece. Prana’s bathing suits are made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon and built by a Fair Trade Certified™ Factory. The Jess One Piece is fully reversible so you get two bathing suits in one!

Boden
Designed in the UK, Boden swimwear is made with recycled polyester and plastics. Their one pieces bathing suits have some seriously gorgeous prints. They also guarantee their swim will last with a 365-day return policy (for exchange or credit). The Portofino cup size swimsuit goes from a 32A-38DD.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A’s swimwear designer created EcoLux, working with the top mills in Italy, Canada and California — the first premium swim fabric made from recycled nylon fibers. In fact, all of Vitamin A swimwear is made in the USA. I also really like that you can narrow down your search by coverage (I’m a fan of full coverage). I’ve also had a Vitamin A one piece for years (the style is discontinued) and it has lasted through lots of wear, washing, chlorine, salt and sun.

Agua by Agua Bendita
You may recognize Agua Bendita for their incredibly beautiful prints and hand-embroidered details. In fact, each print is hand-painted and then digitized. The brand created the AB Hearts Program which is comprised of 500 female heads of household who handcraft and embroider the label’s designs. In addition, their swimsuits are made from recycled plastic bottles. And their algae tags are fully compostable. They are also committed to slow fashion. Taking extra time in the creative process for design, focusing on creating less and creating better.

Madewell
I am a big fan of Madewell’s Second Wave swim. Made with 80% recycled nylon from waste like fishing nets, fabric scraps or carpet they also have UPF 50 protection. Their styles are very comfortable and great for activities (I wear mine surfing, paddle boarding, biking, etc). In addition, they already have some really cute prints and styles for summer.

Jade Swim
Made entirely in the USA, Jade Swim uses ECONYL made out of 100% regenerated nylon for the majority of their collection. They also upcycle fabric scraps in the production process to repurpose in a variety of ways and use 100% recycled plastic and biodegradable shipping bags.
